We have some amazing news from our friends at the Monadnock Food Coop. Throughout the month of April, proceeds from the Coop's Round It Up program (where shoppers round up their purchases to benefit local non-profits) will be used to cover costs associated with the Five Sigma Farm land protection project. This is a great chance to help protect precious local farmland while enjoying the incredible offerings at the Monadnock Food Coop. You can also donate to the project's expenses directly by clicking here!
What is Five Sigma Farm?
Five Sigma Farm is a working sheep and egg farm in Sullivan, New Hampshire. Owner Milton Trimitsis, along with his hardworking dogs (all eight of them!), have operated this farm since 2016. Milton’s hard work on this 56-acre farm helps provide local stores, including the Monadnock Food Coop, with pasture-raised meat and eggs. Milton is committed to the best farming practices, rotating his flock daily to fresh pastures. With the help of his dogs and to the delight of his neighbors, who enjoy watching Milton bring his flock through the town multiple times a year, Milton now manages over 100 sheep and 300 laying hens.
Milton is committed to conserving his farmland to ensure that these acres of perfectly suited grazing land can remain for future generations of farmers. The Monadnock Conservancy, with support from the Monadnock Food Coop’s Farm Fund and the Round It Up program, have been working through the process of getting this farm conserved, and YOU can help by rounding up your Monadnock Food Coop's purchases. Even a few cents adds up, we hope you will support Milton's beautiful, and productive, farm.
