Getting outside with your special someone — or with your entire family, for a slightly different emphasis — can be a great way to remind yourself why you have fun with them in the first place. Whether you’ve hiked before or it’s something completely new, you’ll find a trail to enjoy on our list.

1. Converse Meadow Loop Trail

Take an easy stroll through hemlock and hardwood groves on this 1.5-mile trail in Rindge. It will be hard to know what’s more beautiful: the wetland views or your date.

2. Cranberry Meadow Pond Trail

Wander into the woods and follow the trail about 1 mile to Cranberry Meadow Pond in Peterborough. A simple pine bench at the end of the trail, nestled by the water, is the perfect excuse to snuggle up to your sweetie.

3. Whittemore Island Trails

Strap on your snowshoes or cross-country skis, hold hands, and glide your way out to Whittemore Island in the middle of Thorndike Pond in Jaffrey. Pack some hot cocoa and sip together while you admire the view of Mount Monadnock.

4. Tippin Rock Trail

For the adventurous couple, climb almost a mile up Hewes Hill in Swanzey on the Tippin Rock Trail. You can have a contest to see who can tip the 40-ton namesake boulder. (Hint: you might want to let your sweetie win!)

5. Porcupine Falls Trail

Set out together from Route 10 on the Connector Trail on this 2.6-mile round-trip hike at Calhoun Family Forest in Gilsum. You’ll  join up with the Porcupine Falls Trail, which takes you to a bridge deep in the woods where you can gaze at the icy falls and into your partner’s eyes.
