On Thursday, September 18th from 5-7pm at the Showroom in downtown Keene, the Monadnock Conservancy invites the public to join us for a night of food, socializing, and discussion on how conservation will benefit the next generation of Monadnock region's residents! We will also be giving out awards to some outstanding folks who have made significant contributions to the cause of conservation in the past year.
We are very excited to be joined by Professor David Sobel. David has written extensively on the topic of children and hands-on education and play in nature. His numerous books—from Wild Play: Parenting Adventures in the Great Outdoors to Place-Based Education: Connecting Classrooms and Communities and to Childhood and Nature: Design Principles for Educators, plus other works focusing on different age levels—offer parents and teachers insights into the value, appeal, and techniques of outdoor experiences for personal, physical, and social growth.
Sobel is a Professor Emeritus in the Education Department at Antioch University New England. He consults and lectures nationally and internationally on place-based education, children’s relationship with nature and nature-based early childhood education.
