Where We Work

Protecting land on rivers, lakes, and wetlands like the Mead Brook complex in Jaffrey is one of the Conservancys highest priorities
The Monadnock Conservancys service area includes 35 towns in the Monadnock Region of southwiiestern New Hampshire. This region encompasses some 649,393 acres and is home to around 98,538 residents.
This rich and diverse landscape includes two major watersheds, dozens of lakes and ponds, the highest mountains in southern New Hampshire, extensive forests, and innumerable wetlands and bogs.
Our protected lands evoke the names that define the Monadnock Region. They include shoreline on all three major rivers the Connecticut, Ashuelot, and Contoocook and many lakes and ponds, including Dublin Lake, Silver Lake, and Mountain Brook Reservoir. We have protected sections of the Wapack Trail and the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway. Other projects have protected the regions most visible landmarks including Surry Mountain, Daniels Mountain, and West Hill.
In addition, the Conservancy has quietly set aside dozens of lesser-known places throughout the region. Places like Page Mountain Meadow. Eliza Adams Gorge. Woodland Hill Farm. Mead Brook. Lightning and Thunder Hills. The list of lands goes on and on.
