Owens Named New Executive Director
Appointed during time of unprecedented growth
( KEENE)—The Board of Trustees of the Monadnock Conservancy is very pleased to announce that, after an extensive search considering candidates from across New England, Ryan Owens has been selected as the Conservancy’s new Executive Director. Ryan joined the Conservancy’s land protection staff in 2006, having previously worked for The Wilderness Society in Boston.
Ryan is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a Master’s Degree from the Field Naturalist Program at the University of Vermont. Since joining the Conservancy, Ryan has been instrumental in the Conservancy’s phenomenal land protection success across the Monadnock Region. Said John Kieley, president of the board of trustees, “Ryan’s leadership and talent have been recognized by our easement holders and our land protection partners, including those at the national level.”
Ryan replaces Richard Ober, the Monadnock Conservancy's executive director since 2001. Dick has accepted the position of Vice President of Civic Leadership at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The Conservancy is grateful to Dick for his outstanding service.
When asked his reaction to the promotion, Ryan remarked, “The Conservancy is entering an exciting period of growth in response to the strong support for conservation we enjoy here in the Monadnock Region. I look forward to us meeting the opportunities ahead with much more of the thoughtful, lasting conservation work that has become the hallmark of this outstanding organization.” Ryan and his wife Amy live in Stoddard.
Founded in 1989, The Monadnock Conservancy is a non-profit land conservation organization that serves 35 towns in the Monadnock Region. Its mission is to identify, promote, and actively seek protection of significant natural, aesthetic, and historic resources in the Monadnock Region; and to monitor and enforce the protection of lands in the trust.
