What We Do

The Monadnock Conservancy works in partnership with landowners like Walt Lacey, who asked us to help protect his family’s forests on West Hill in Keene.

The mission of the Monadnock Conservancy is “To identify, promote, and actively seek protection of significant natural, aesthetic, and historic resources in the Monadnock Region; and to monitor and enforce the protection of lands in the trust.”

Every year the Conservancy helps the people of the Monadnock Region protect hundreds of acres of open space land. We work with individuals, families, groups of neighbors, and towns. Our work is voluntary and collaborative. And it is forever.

The Conservancy selects lands to conserve based on five land protection goals. Once we have secured a piece of land we agree to watch over it forever through our land stewardship program.

The Conservancy also

  • Works with towns to help with land conservation
  • Educates landowners on land protection options
  • Participates in partnerships of conservation initiatives
  • Trains volunteers to assist with land conservation
  • Gives presentations to groups interested in our work
  • Publishes a quarterly newsletter
  • Hosts an annual meeting and other special events.

For information on any of these activities, please explore this web site or contact us.
